Music From Ireland has announced the six Irish acts that will be performing at MFI’s official showcase later this month during SXSW, an annual international music showcase event which usually takes place in Austin, Texas, but has moved online for 2021.

The acts selected for the virtual performances are Ailbhe Reddy, Aoife Nessa Frances, Just Mustard, Rachael Lavelle, Pillow Queens and Tebi Rex, performing on 18th March at 11pm, via https://www.sxsw.com/

Music From Ireland is the Irish Music Export Initiative funded by the Government through Culture Ireland, supported by IMRO and run by First Music Contact to showcase Irish music internationally.

This year, MFI is funded to cover events (online and otherwise) such as ESNS, SXSW, The Great Escape, Primavera, Iceland Airwaves and more, as these festivals have been identified as key showcases in their specific territories.

The Irish artists’ exclusive performances were filmed at the Grand Social, Dublin by production company Tiny Ark.

Three additional Irish artists will be included in the festival line-up – Enola Gay, Robocobra Quartet and Sinead O’ Brien.

“It is so important as the world begins to open up again that we have been able to keep artists from Ireland in the international spotlight with our Music From Ireland activity in 2020 and 2021,” said Angela Dorgan from MFI.
