Many awesome music festivals have started small and then blossomed to become even greater events and The Conncert in Cloghans, near Ballina, is already on that path.
Last year’s inaugural festival was a smoothly co-ordinated ten-hour show that introduced a diversity of musical styles and attracted music lovers and the inquisitive to hear a wide range of creative mastery of words and music.
All proceeds from the forthcoming second annual Conncert on the shores of Lough Conn will go directly to the musicians and background personnel taking part in this one-day marathon festival.
Some of the country’s leading bands will be on stage at The Lodge, Cloghans, Ballina from 3pm to 1am on Saturday, August 9, all organised by a group of enthusiastic volunteers from the area.
The eight-act line-up includes Hedgling, Human Lanterns, Patrick Kelleher, The Bonk, Biological Speculation, Non Sleep, Nichts and soloist, Elaine Malone.
There will be limited parking available outside the venue so patrons are asked to use bus or taxi, or to carpool. The organisers will run a special bus in and out of Ballina.
There will be a food vendor onsite, catering for all needs, and camping is also available near the pub at no extra cost, with access to a toilet and water. Additional space for camper vans will make for a truly mini-festival experience.
