Bright lights ahead for Cillian Coleman

A cheeky banjo-picking riff introduces the memorable debut single from 19-year old West of Ireland singer-songwriter Cillian Coleman. Cillian’s City Lights is a singable, danceable song that’s a perfect fit for a summer outdoor festival.

The young man from Dunmore, Co. Galway, who now lives in Cloonfad, near Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo says that his original folk pop song, infused with a little bit of country, explores the themes of a childhood friend leaving home to work abroad and how lots of people in Ireland can relate to this experience.

“This song speaks about the memories made as kids and how times have changed from then to now, and how we’d all love to go back to being children and making memories in the summer time,” said Cillian.

Already a well-known performer on the local circuit, Cillian proudly added: “I have previously had the privilege of playing with Kingfishr backstage last Christmas in the TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar”.

The song has been produced, mixed and mastered by producer Gavin Doyle, who has previously worked with Cillian’s fellow countymen Jamie McIntyre and John Luke, as well as with Dawna.

As he proceeds to carve out a music career for himself, you can catch Cillian perform in Rocky’s Bar, Castlebar on Friday, July 31, Lofty’s Bar, Westport on Saturday, August 1 and Quay West, The Quay, Ballina on Sunday, August 2.
