Busy Aodán Coyne ready for new album launch

Ennis born Aodán Coyne is a composer, songwriter, singer and producer. He is also a principal member of acclaimed folk band Socks In The Frying Pan, who has an enviable touring schedule particularly in the USA and on the continent.

To decide then to release a solo album in parallel would be, to some, a non-enviable task! But not for Aodán.

Aodán Coyne’s new solo album Gaps Between Stars is scheduled for release on 22ndNovember.

Meantime, Honey Wine, the new single from the upcoming album is now available to buy and stream.

“Honey Wine is a song which recalls the best times spent with the best friends, those amazingly good days spent playing music, laughing, drinking and sharing memories around West Clare,” said Aodán.

“Some of those friends are now living their own lives abroad. Others have since tragically died to suicide. These friends influenced my life choices, be it with pursuing music as a career or simply soaking up the juice of everyday life. The key takeaway is about cherishing those happy memories that you still have.”

Once he had the concept for his new album, it was written within six months on the outskirts of Ennis overlooking the lake of Ballyalla, a surge of scenic calm in the midst of the creator’s hectic schedule.

To record Gaps Between The Stars, Aodán teamed up with Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy at The Production Suite, Dublin, the same production team behind Emma Langford’s award winning album, Quiet Giant.

This 2019 long-play follows Aodán’s acclaimed 2015 debut If We Only Knew .

The single’s appearance is well-timed alongside a rare trip home these days for the Ennis native. Aodán has just returned from another month touring in the USA and is due to hit the road again on November 1st for a European tour with his band Socks In The Frying Pan, with dates in Holland, Denmark and France.

When at home Aodán frequently guests with his good friend Emma Langford, and also adds his musicianship to Emma’s pending new album.
