Fiachna’s ‘Winter Sun’ is warm and inviting

Best known as guitarist and singer with Hothouse Flowers, Fiachna Ó Braonáin’s current passion as a presenter on RTE Radio One has not deterred him from still pursuing his love of performing and recording his own music.

The talented Dubliner has duetted with Belinda Carisle and worked with ex-Pogues singer Cait O’Riordan in his band PreNup.

His EP Winter Sun will be released this Friday, preceded by the new single Bottle Of Rum.

Winter Sun is a collection of three songs and one instrumental piece that all in their own way reflect Fiachna’s other addiction… his love of the sea!

Bottle Of Rum originally appeared on the 54-year old Fiachna’s debut solo album Bougainvillea, but this new version was recorded in collaboration with Clare Sands. Clare plays fiddle, sings backing vocals and arranged the string section on this version.

Fellow Hothouse Flowers musician, Martin Brunsden also plays Bertha, his beautiful double bass!
