Healyfest rocks Ballycastle

Healyfest, the free live music festival in Ballycastle, Co. Mayo, takes place over the coming public holiday weekend.

Beginning on 4th August, one of the highlights will be a show by Rob Strong and his band.

Rob Strong

Rob is one of Ireland’s finest blues rock and soul singers, a gift not lost on his equally talented son Andrew, who starred in the BAFTA-winning film The Commitments.

Rob’s career started in the showband era with The Plattermen, a group that progressed beyond the traditional showband ilk to display quite a rock edge during their heyday in the 1970s, pushing the creative boundaries of what was generally acceptable in the ballrooms of the time.

Rob and his band play HealyFest on Sunday, 6th August.

Other artists on stage during Healyfest Music Festival will include the soul star Buck Taylor on Monday, 7th August and blues rock band Rusty Jacks on Monday, 7th August.

Also appearing will be Midnight Vinyl, Burbon Smoke, Tommy Maloney, and other acts.

The annual music festival takes place in and around the charming surroundings of Healy’s Bar in the centre of the North Mayo village from 4th to 7th August.

More information is available on the Healyfest Music Festival Facebook page.
