First Aid Kit drop out but Spiritualized and Elbow among the big stars

First Aid Kit have cancelled all summer shows for medical reasons, but FONTAINES D.C. will join the Monday bill alongside ELBOW, SPIRITUALIZED, RY X, JULIEN BAKER, SAINT SISTER, GLASSHOUSE PRESENTS HOLOCENE (the music of Bon Iver) and others for the Bulmers Forbidden Fruit Festival in two weeks time.

First Aid Kit – the Swedish sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg have today issued the following message to fans:

Beloved listeners and followers,

We’re devastated to have to cancel the planned summer dates this year. We were super excited to play, but because of unforeseen medical circumstances we simply cannot do the shows. All will be okay and we look forward to seeing you soon again.

Lots of love and magic from Stockholm,

Klara & Johanna

Bank Holiday Monday will be FONTAINES D.C.’s biggest Irish show to date and their only outdoor Dublin show this year. It will be one of two Irish festival appearances that FONTAINES D.C. will play this year, with the other being the SOLD OUT All Together Now Festival this coming August, where the band will rock the mainstage.

FONTAINES D.C.. have been on an amazing trajectory over the course of the last year and a half. The Irish band have released four critically acclaimed AA side singles, all of which received considerable support both from radio, with the band A-listed at BBC Radio 6 Music for the single Too Real, and from a vast range of international press, with the band featuring in a number of end of year lists and receiving high praise from the likes of NPR, Rolling Stone, Q, NME, The FADER, Time Out, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Dork, Clash, Gigwise, So Young, Stereogum, Paste and more.

The only way is up. They cracked the UK and Irish Top 10 album charts with their debut record Dogrel – to serious critical acclaim from both home and abroad. Check out The Guardian’s 5 star review here. They took the revered SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas by storm, playing gig after packed out gig. They knocked their appearance earlier this month on one of the USA’s most influential TV shows, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon out of the park, performing two songs, Liberty Belle and Boys In The Better Land.  With a sell out US tour looming, global touring beckoning, we are thrilled to bring them to Forbidden Fruit for their biggest home show to date. They’re gonna be Big.

FONTAINES D.C. will be joining the likes of  SKEPTA, MURA MASA, ELBOW, DANNY BROWN, PAUL KALKBRENNER, JON HOPKINS, SAINT SISTER, LAURENT GARNIER, EARL SWEATSHIRT, PEGGY GOU, RY X, JULIEN BAKER, KOJAQUE  and MAHALIA who play across the weekend at Bulmers Forbidden Fruit this year.

We are less than 2 weeks away from Forbidden Fruit 2019. With a line up filled to the brim with awesome talent, great food, ice-cold drinks  – all in a beautiful city centre setting – what more could you ask for? We’ve revealed our Forbidden Fruit Night line-up, too –  a tempting selection of FORBIDDEN FRUIT AFTER-PARTIES taking place in a variety of official locations around the city and running up until late.
