Local band Yop makes its mark on Ballina Fringe Festival later this week, at which the second EP from the group will also be launched.
Special guests on the night will be Cork band The Altered Hours, who have toured with Fontaines D.C.

Comprising Ballina music artists Conor Hickey and Syd Murphy, concertgoers can expect darkwave sounds blending noisy guitars, hypnotic bass, sombre vocals, drum machines and dreamy synths from Yop.
The pair’s new EP is ‘In Vile Viciousness’, with a taster video for the song ‘Dialogue 642’ already online. The EP follows on from Yop’s
intriguing debut EP ‘The World Is A Hell’, which was released early in 2023.
This new four-track was self-recorded, and is available on vinyl and digital from Friday on Bandcamp (Distroy Records and Wahshtuff Records).
Yop’s EP launch show will take place in Ballina Arts Centre on Friday, October 10 at 9pm. Tickets are €10 plus booking fee and can be purchased online at www.ballinaartscentre.com. You can also call 096-73593 or email info@ballinaartscentre.com.
Returning to Ballina after a decade, guest band The Altered Hours will be previewing songs from their upcoming fourth album, due out in November. Recently, the band’s guitarist Cathal Mac Gabhann has stepped in as live guitarist for Fontaines D.C. on their Japan and Australian tour.
You can also enjoy some soothing sounds in the mezzanine bar of Ballina Arts Centre from DJ PC.
