Yop’s latest deep dive into creativity

Yop’s latest deep dive into their creativity has given us the band’s new EP, ‘In Vile Viciousness’, four tracks of fascinating music, defined by the duo’s own sensibilities.

Featuring Ballina’s Conor Hickey and Sid Murphy, Yop are a ‘DIY krauty-psychey-dancey-noisey-punky’ (their words) band who also use a drum machine that really earns its keep.

The hypnotic ‘Waveless’ leads the charge on the duo’s new EP, ‘In Vile Viciousness’, available now on vinyl and to buy online. ‘Waveless’ is a melodic song that is much more sedate than the tracks that follow. For example, ‘Dialogue 642’ is super-fast, with its obstinate bass guitar line, clever drum sequencing and a synth sound that is more reminiscent of a Kraftwerk 1970’s experiment. It’s the best track on the new release!

‘The Silence’ introduces a solid rock attitude, while ‘Can’t Start Again’ – another bass guitar-driven song – rounds off the EP with an energy resembling a Yop live performance.

‘In Vile Viciousness’ was recorded by Yop at Ballina Punx HQ in the town centre and mixed by Jackie Cadiou of Syndrome 81 and Litovsk fame.
