Centre Stage Vocal and Music Academy marked a major milestone recently with a joyful and emotional 25th anniversary gala concert, celebrating a quarter-century of music education, performance and community impact in Ballina, Co. Mayo.

Held in the Great National Hotel, the show brought together over 200 children and young people from Centre Stage’s Ballina and Belmullet schools, alongside teachers, families and supporters, for an evening of singing, performance and celebration.

Performers ranged in age from just three years old to teenagers, with the programme showcasing group numbers, solo performances and stage school pieces.
For many of the youngest children, the night marked their very first time appearing on stage, making the occasion especially memorable for families and teachers alike.

The concert honoured the work of Centre Stage Director and Owner Maureen Lawlor, whose dedication and passion have shaped generations of young performers over the past 25 years. The evening included a special tribute performance and a heartfelt finale recognising her contribution to music education in the region.
Speaking after the event, Maureen said “This night was about more than music. It was about confidence, community and celebrating young people. Seeing children grow in belief and joy on stage is exactly why Centre Stage exists.”
The gala event also looked to the future with announcements of upcoming productions later this year, including ‘Matilda’ for junior stage school students and ‘Mamma Mia’ for senior groups. Centre Stage also confirmed the launch of a new Stage School Tots programme for children aged three to five, beginning this month.
