Busy shows ahead for Mayo male voices

After the success of their Christmas performances in Ballintubber Abbey, The National Museum of Country Life, Turlough and Ireland West Airport Knock, the members of the popular Mayo Male Voice Choir are inviting audiences to join them once again at one or more of their upcoming concerts.

Wicklow Male Voice Choir will perform with the Mayo Male Voice Choir in Christchurch, Castlebar on Saturday 18th February.



This 50-strong choir, directed by Deirdre Lee, and accompanied by Rebecca Cresham, have included three Mayo shows in their forthcoming schedule, along with a performances in Ennis.

On Saturday 18th February, the choir will perform together with The Wicklow Male Voice Choir, in the beautiful Christchurch, Castlebar, starting at 8p.m., with donations at the door going towards the restoration of the Church. No strangers to Castlebar, the Wicklow Male Voice Choir took part in the Mayo International Choral Festival some years back and promised a return visit. They are looking forward to renewing acquaintances and singing again in Mayo.

On Saturday 25th February, at 8p.m., the choir will perform at the ‘Springtime Serenade’ concert, at the Lodge at Ashford Castle, Cong. They will be joined by the Headford Presentation School Choir and Ensemble, directed by Siobhán Shaughnessy and Ita Cunningham. Organised by friends of the Mayo International Choral Festival, and supported by The Lodge at Ashford and Ashford Castle, all funds raised go towards Dolmen drop-in centres in Mayo, and Headford’s Solas organisation.

Saturday 15th of April will see the choir travel to Ennis, Co. Clare to perform with the UK’s Steeton Male Voice Choir. They will also be joined by Harmony Bro acapella group from Ennis, directed by Michael Hennessy. Proceeds to The Men’s Shed organisation.

And finally, the choir members are delighted to stage their annual concert on Friday 28th April in the ATU, Mayo Campus with special guest Soprano Emma Nash. More details to be announced.
