Re-mix and album on the way from Lydia Ford

Indie-pop Berlin-based Mayo artist Lydia Ford is releasing a remix of her most recent single Burning Out.

The new single comes as Lydia is gearing up to the release of her debut album Faking It this autumn.

Originally from Castlebar, Lydia’s passion for music started at a young age when she was surrounded by it in her home.

Her dad is Peter Ford, well-known in GAA circles in the county while her mother Nicola owns Sanzio Boutique in the town.

Lydia was very involved in the Castlebar pantomime as a child and later played in bands, including at the Ruby Room of The Royal Theatre.
As a teenager, she took guitar lessons from local musician Michael Buckton and singing lessons from Anne Marie and Hugh Francis of Mayo Vocal Academy.

After university, she began working for TV3, but a move to New York reignited her passion for music. She started to post demos on SoundCloud, leading to an unexpected request from Hamburg deep house duo Steam Phunk to collaborate.

Lydia’s reputation continued to grow with 2021’s Feel It For You, which received airplay in Ireland and the UK, editorial playlists across Spotify, press coverage from Billboard, Earmilk, and Uproxx, and syncs in Made In Chelsea.

She has also made her mark in the live arena, playing sets at Ireland Music Week 2022, Other Voices, and We’ve Only Just Begun Festival, and her 2023 single Sink or Swim was another winner for Lydia.

Her song Burning Out describes the feeling of being overwhelmed, stressed, and burnt out.

Faction Records got in touch after Feel It For You, leading to a deal with their imprint, Bloom Records.

The forthcoming album was born out of a collaboration with producer Sam Stevenson during Berlin’s lockdown in 2021. Lydia’s songwriting is primarily informed by her own experiences, with a theme of ‘being in your twenties and struggling to get your life together’.
