Finéinn Quinn raises his music up a few notches

Memories made during summer music festivals will often recall those moments when everyone raises their mobile phone torch in hushed silence and a song comes along that calms the madness. Finéinn Quinn has the perfect new track for that four-and-half-minute downtime festival interlude.

His latest, superbly-produced pop single takes Finéinn’s vocal skills to an entirely new level, exploring his fine, stirring tenor voice.

‘Superheroes’ displays a maturing songwriting sensibility from this young Foxford, Co. Mayo man.

Released yesterday, the track recalls the death of someone dear to him. “I wrote this song to deal with the grief of losing someone very close to me,” said Finéinn.
“It was the first death of major significance to me. The lyrics explore the grief process and how a death like this can change the course of someone’s life.

“We actually recorded the ticking of John’s watch and, as you can hear, this resonates throughout the song, which is used as the base from which all else flows. It’s one significant way in which my loved one lives on. I think a lot of people will relate to this song as it really dives deep into the emotions of losing someone and the fallout that grief causes. This really was a tough one to write, and I also find it hard to listen to as it brings up so many emotions for me, but I still really do appreciate the mammoth effort we gave this song in the studio. I’m extremely proud of the sound and experience we created for the listener.’

A multi-instrumentalist who counts guitar, fiddle and bodhran among his collection, Finéinn was heavily involved in traditional music sessions from a young age. He learned his craft through constant exposure to like-minded musicians and artists.
Later in his career, he toured the local and national pub venue circuit, which further bolstered both his love of and ability to perform.
