There’s great excitement brewing among fans of alternative country and folk music in the area with the announcement that Nashville trio Styrofoam Winos will play their only show in the west of Ireland at TheNCF Cultural Co-op, Ballina, Co Mayo on Sunday, May 3.
The American trio of songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and long-time friends, Joe Kenkel, Trevor Nikrant and Lou Turner, have been together as a band for ten years. They will be in Ireland to perform at the prestigious Kilkenny Roots Festival before heading north west for this intimate Ballina show.
Music fans will love the band’s radically communal approach to gigs, as they uniquely rotate vocal and instrumental roles between all three members. Styrofoam Winos will release their new album ‘Any River’ in June of this year.
Band members Lou and Trevor are also members of the Ryan Davis and The Roadhouse Band that will support Kurt Vile in Dublin’s Vicar Street in September.
