Forgotten Soldier goes punk

The latest music from Ronan McManus is more punkish than previous recordings – crunchy guitars and bouncy drums make for a delightful alternative to much of the today’s chart drivel!

Ronan, aka Forgotten Soldier, is releasing his new EP this week.

Doing My Own Research will be the follow-up to hisMan on a Bridge, tracks which were released independently by the Leitrim musician in 2018.

This new EP, out tomorrow Friday, 14th October on Soundcloud, is quite a departure for Ronan, and not just musically speaking.

His lyrics bear witness to true punk, peering inside some of the socio-economic difficulties that are prevalent across our country in 2022, from the housing problem to climate change.

It’s his first output under the Forgotten Soldier moniker, with influences from bands such as Cloud Nothings and Placebo, and 1980s post-punk band Mission of Burma.

All guitars and vocals on Doing My Own Research are by Ronan, who also did his own drum programming. The EP was mixed and recorded by Perry Blake and mastered by Chris O’Brien

As Forgotten Soldier, Ronan is working on a live set and plans to tour the EP and some new material over the coming months, encouraged by airplay on a number of independent radio stations and playlists.
